What’s so great about being a recruitment entrepreneur? Plenty, as it turns out. Here are 8 reasons to get pumped up about starting your own recruitment company.

Sure, there’s a lot to think about when you’re starting your own recruitment company. In fact, you can read more about how to do that here. But when you’re weighing up the risks, don’t lose sight of the many rewards that come with being your own boss.

They’re pretty amazing. So let’s look at what they are:

1.   You have the power

You could just start sending out your CV again and move to the next position – but where’s the adventure in that? The joy of starting your own recruitment agency is being in control of the decision-making process – from the logo to the work culture.

2.   Keep what you earn

Yes, you’ll have to pay taxes, and you’ll have expenses – but you’ll be able to keep a much higher proportion of your billings. Money you can reinvest into growing your business at the beginning, then take out of the business for yourself when you’re thriving.

3.   Set your own targets

If you’re an established recruiter, you’ll certainly have an opinion on how you want to set your own KPIs. Now is your chance.

4.   Be the master of your own destiny

Have I stolen that line from a cheesy movie? Well, it fits here too. This is your time to develop a vision and see it materialise. Choose your own hours, your dress code, change your mind, and seize opportunities when they arrive without having to ask permission first.

5.   Become your brand

You will be the face of your company. So don’t shy away and miss the chance to put your personality behind your brand and create something unique. It’s good for business, and a fantastic way to attract like-minded talent.

6.   Work to your own schedule

Some of us recruiters are laser-focused on billings. And it’s a lot more fun putting in the hours when we can keep the rewards. Sure, you can set your own hours and find time for a daytime cinema trip if you fancy it – but you’ll probably find the call of work irresistible when you’re the boss.

7.   Build your dream team

This is your chance to attract top talent. As a recruiter, you already know how to do this for others, so now you can do it for yourself. You can surround yourself with the people who compliment your skills and help you grow your business in the direction you want.

8.   No day is the same

This is a big one for bored recruiters out there stuck in the same job for a long time. Suddenly you’ll find you’re on a real adventure. Sure there are hazards along the way, especially at the start – but that’s what an adventure is, right? A chance to challenge yourself and aim high.
